Origin TC – Where should the DAO store $XRD?
Latest 28 Sep 2026 – PrimeVault to carry the Foundation’s custody contract to end-2026 for the DAO to take over, said in chat and not yet documented

The DAO needs a ratified custody model for its treasury: native on-ledger multisig vs. mixed custody, and a Treasury Risk & Diversification stance (how much XRD vs. stablecoins to hold against a 6–12 month runway).

Where it stands (August 2026)

The Temp Check has not resolved, but the account it is about is now readable on the ledger. On 11 August 2026 the framework's On-Chain Identifiers & Verification Policy replaced its last placeholder with a deployed primary multi-signature treasury account. Read on 16 August 2026 at epoch 335598, its owner rule is a CountOf(2) over three Ed25519 signature badges – the 2-of-3 threshold DAO Parameters §6A specifies for this phase – and it holds 200 XRD, deposited on 10 August, plus one non-fungible.

That non-fungible is the first thing the DAO has actually taken custody of. On 13 August 2026 at 15:24 UTC the Consultations Master Badge moved out of a single-signature account and into the treasury account, satisfying the policy's custody rule before the policy itself is in force. So the account exists and is under a quorum; what has not arrived is a treasury. Nothing on the ledger yet speaks to this card's actual question – the ratio of XRD to stablecoins to hold against a 6–12 month runway – which waits on the Phase 2 Treasury Risk & Diversification Policy. The ledger reading is kept current on Radix Governance.

Deliverables

  • Resolve the Temp Check on primary XRD custody.
  • Adopt the Treasury Risk & Diversification Policy (Phase 2) target ratios.
  • Define stablecoin runway sizing for operating expenses.

A custody provider, named in chat (28 September 2026)

The Operating Agreement’s activation checklist counts a custody provider among the external dependencies the DAO cannot satisfy on its own, and does not name one. On 28 September 2026 projectShift, writing in Radix DLT Official, did: PrimeVault, the custody provider the Foundation already uses, has agreed to extend the Foundation’s existing contract to the end of 2026 so that the DAO can take it over once it is formed. The DAO would pay nothing to join the contract, and would probably be required to keep it for a further twelve months after that. Asked in the same thread when the community will learn how much the Foundation hands over, they said probably only on the day it is handed over, which comes after the DAO is incorporated and the Transition RAC has the PrimeVault account and its signers in place. The Transition RAC’s own legal and MIDAO costs are being met from a Foundation grant routed through GetRadix, because no DAO entity exists yet to receive it.

If the handover runs that way, the treasury opens in mixed custody, the second of the two models the Temperature Check put up, with the 2-of-3 on-ledger account keeping what it holds today. None of this is written down anywhere the community can check yet: the Temperature Check is unresolved, the custody arrangement may be documented confidentially under the Operating Agreement, and the ratio of XRD to stablecoins the card asks about is untouched by it.
